Presbyterian Church of Korea (Tonghap)

PCK Tonghap, Tonghap
B — Broadly orthodox

Overview

The Presbyterian Church of Korea (Tonghap) is a mainline Presbyterian denomination in South Korea, formed in 1959 in the Tonghap ("unified") split over Korean participation in the ecumenical World Council of Churches, which Tonghap supported. The Tonghap Assembly subscribes formally to the Westminster Confession and Catechisms, ordains both men and women, and maintains ecumenical partnerships through the WCC and the World Communion of Reformed Churches. AskCredo places Tonghap in the B-tier as a formally confessional Presbyterian body whose ecumenical commitments and ordination practice diverge from the stricter Hapdong tradition.
