The Free Church of Scotland (Continuing) separated from the Free Church of Scotland in 2000 over disputes concerning ministerial discipline and the handling of internal church-court cases. The denomination upholds the Westminster Confession, the Larger and Shorter Catechisms, the Directory for the Public Worship of God, and the exclusive-psalmody, unaccompanied-singing tradition of the Scottish Reformed heritage. It is a small but confessionally precise Presbyterian body. AskCredo places the FC(C) in the S-tier for its strict adherence to the Westminster Standards and its defense of the regulative principle of worship.
