Evangelical Presbyterian Church

EPC
A — Broadly Reformed

Overview

The Evangelical Presbyterian Church (EPC) was formed in 1981 by congregations leaving the mainline UPCUSA over Scripture's authority and the ordination of female elders (a matter still held as local option within the EPC today). The EPC subscribes to the Westminster Confession and Catechisms, holds biblical marriage, and has grown substantially by welcoming evangelical transfers from the PC(USA). AskCredo places the EPC in the A-tier for its broadly Reformed theology and confessional subscription, while noting the internal latitude on female eldership that distinguishes it from the stricter Presbyterian bodies.
