Terms of Service

Last updated: April 17, 2026

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of AskCredo.ai ("AskCredo", "we", "us", "our") on the website at askcredo.ai and the AskCredo mobile application (the "Service"). By using the Service, you agree to these Terms.

1. The Service

AskCredo is an AI-powered theological research assistant. It generates answers using retrieval-augmented AI grounded in primary sources: Scripture, the historic creeds (Apostles', Nicene, Athanasian, Chalcedonian), the Westminster Standards, the Three Forms of Unity (Belgic Confession, Heidelberg Catechism, Canons of Dort), the 1689 London Baptist Confession of Faith, and selected systematic theologies and commentaries. Answers are AI-generated. A subset of conversations are reviewed editorially and republished on /q/* pages as canonical AskCredo content.

2. AI Content Disclaimer

Answers from AskCredo are research aids, not substitutes for pastoral counsel, mental-health care, medical advice, or legal advice. AI systems can misquote, miscite, or misunderstand. Always check primary sources. For pastoral care, consult an ordained minister in your local church. If you are in mental-health crisis, contact the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline (call or text 988 in the US) or your local emergency services.

3. User Accounts

You may sign in with Sign in with Apple, Google, or email. You are responsible for keeping your credentials safe and for all activity on your account. You may delete your account at any time from inside the app (Settings → Account → Delete Account). Account deletion permanently removes your private chat history, your account record, and any shares you submitted that were not editorially published. See Section 4 for what happens to published content.

4. Sharing & Published Content

When you share a chat (creating a /q/* URL), you grant AskCredo a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, perpetual license to host, display, index, and republish that content on the public site, in the sitemap, in the llms-full.txt AI-agent index, and as part of derivative editorial works (topic hubs, Scripture index, Confessions index).

Editorially published content is platform-owned. If your shared question is selected for editorial publication on a /q/* page (after quality review and human approval), that derivative editorial work becomes platform-owned content. If you later delete your account, your identity is severed from the published page, but the page itself remains live as part of AskCredo's public corpus. Shares that have not yet been editorially published are deleted with your account.

You may request takedown of a specific published page by emailing editorial@askcredo.ai with the URL and your reason. We review takedown requests on a case-by-case basis.

5. Acceptable Use

You agree not to use AskCredo to: harass, dox, defame, or threaten others; generate content that incites violence or self-harm; attempt to bypass the AI's editorial scope (for example, asking it to roleplay or generate content outside historic Christian theology); reverse-engineer the Service or its underlying models; scrape the Service at automated scale; impersonate AskCredo or its staff; or violate any applicable law. We may rate-limit, suspend, or terminate access for violations.

6. Advertising

The live chat experience displays advertising served by Google AdSense (web) and Google AdMob (mobile). Ads do not appear on shared question pages, topic hubs, the Scripture or Confessions indexes, or other static reference pages. See our Privacy Policy for full vendor disclosure and your opt-out options.

7. Intellectual Property

Citations of Scripture and historic confessions are public domain or used under fair use for research and commentary. Theologian quotations are presented under the same fair-use principles. The AskCredo brand, editorial commentary, software, design, and trade dress are proprietary to AskCredo and its operators.

If you believe content on AskCredo infringes your copyright, send a DMCA notice to support@askcredo.ai identifying the work, the URL, your contact information, and a good-faith statement under penalty of perjury.

8. Disclaimers & Limitation of Liability

The Service is provided "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or non-infringement. To the maximum extent permitted by law, AskCredo and its operators are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Service. Total liability for direct damages is capped at the greater of $50 or the fees you have paid AskCredo in the prior 12 months (currently $0, since the Service is free).

9. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless AskCredo and its operators from any third-party claims, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable attorney fees) arising from your misuse of the Service, your violation of these Terms, or your infringement of third-party rights.

10. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be reflected in the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, communicated through the app or via your account-tied email. Continued use after the effective date of an update constitutes acceptance.

11. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-law principles. Disputes are resolved in courts of competent jurisdiction located in Texas.
