Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church

ARP
A — Broadly Reformed

Overview

The Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church (ARP) traces its roots to eighteenth-century Scottish Seceders and Covenanters who came to the American colonies to preserve confessional Presbyterianism; the present denomination was organized in 1782. The ARP subscribes to the Westminster Confession and Larger and Shorter Catechisms and is governed through presbyteries and a General Synod. Erskine College and Seminary has been its historic educational center. AskCredo places the ARP in the A-tier as a broadly Reformed Presbyterian body that has, in recent decades, tightened its confessional and ordination standards.
