The Global Methodist Church was launched in 2022 as the confessional successor to traditional United Methodism, gathering congregations that disaffiliated from the UMC over its departures on sexuality, biblical authority, and, in places, Christology. The GMC holds Wesleyan-Arminian theology, biblical marriage and sexual ethics, and ordains both men and women while requiring adherence to historic Wesleyan standards of doctrine. AskCredo places the GMC in the B-tier as a broadly orthodox Wesleyan body — a welcome realignment by which global Methodism has recovered much of its historic doctrinal ground — with Reformed reservations about its Arminian soteriology.
