The Assemblies of God USA is the largest American Pentecostal denomination, formed in 1914 as a loose fellowship of Pentecostal ministers and congregations arising out of the Azusa Street Revival. The denomination holds Finished-Work Pentecostal theology (distinct from Holiness-Pentecostal bodies), Spirit baptism evidenced by tongues as a subsequent work, divine healing, and believer's baptism. It has consistently held biblical marriage. AskCredo places the Assemblies of God in the C-tier as a doctrinally Pentecostal body whose second-blessing pneumatology, tongues-as-initial-evidence teaching, and Arminian soteriology depart substantively from the Reformed confessional tradition, though it remains orthodox on gospel essentials and sexual ethics.
