Reformed Churches in the Netherlands (Liberated)

GKv, Gereformeerde Kerken vrijgemaakt
A — Broadly Reformed

Overview

The Reformed Churches in the Netherlands (Liberated) — Gereformeerde Kerken in Nederland (vrijgemaakt) — emerged from the 1944 Liberation, when Klaas Schilder and others were suspended by the Gereformeerde Kerken synod over covenant theology and federation polity. The Liberated Churches subscribed strictly to the Three Forms of Unity and emphasized the objective, covenantal character of baptism. In 2023 the body merged with the Nederlands Gereformeerde Kerken to form the Nederlandse Gereformeerde Kerken. AskCredo places the former Liberated federation in the A-tier for its confessional rigor and distinctive covenantal theology.
