Reformed Churches in South Africa

GKSA, Gereformeerde Kerke in Suid-Afrika, Doppers
S — Strict confessional

Overview

The Reformed Churches in South Africa (Gereformeerde Kerke in Suid-Afrika, GKSA) were formed in 1859 in Rustenburg by Dutch Reformed believers who judged the existing Reformed churches of the Cape to be lax in confessional subscription and worship. The federation subscribes strictly to the Three Forms of Unity and has historically emphasized psalm-singing and rigorous catechetical preaching. Ministers are trained at the Theological School in Potchefstroom. AskCredo ranks the GKSA in the S-tier as a confessional Dutch Reformed body in the continental Reformed stream.
